A Gala Event Honouring Women

Recognizing the ongoing efforts, dedication, and leadership of the strong, talented, and selfless women who help shape our society.

Proceeds from the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards Gala support a variety of YMCA-YWCA programs that touch the lives of women, youth and children in our city.

Week Without Violence

Each year during the third week of October, Canadians, and people around the world to mark YWCA’s Week Without Violence, a week-long series of community events promoting diverse approaches to creating a violence-free world. Activities throughout the week focus on raising awareness, promoting attitude change, and enabling individuals and organizations to begin positive actions towards ending violence in their communities.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

The shoes are symbolic… The message is powerful.

Started out as a small group of men to totter around a park that has to become a world-wide movement with tens of thousands of men raising awareness and money for local crisis centres, domestic violence shelter and other sexualized violence education, prevention and remediation programs.

Take Back the Night is an opportunity to bring light to the hidden issues around violence against women and gender-diverse people and to show support and solidarity within Westman area.

The Strength in Me Conference

The YWCA Strength in Me is a one-day annual conference concentrates on engaging students between the ages of 10-13 years old. The goal of the conference is to educate and provide them with tools to develop their identities, strengths and to empower them to be all they can be.

Keeping Spirit Bright

This campaign is to raise awareness and money for homelessness and domestic violence during the holiday season. A tree is placed in the front yard of our building with purple lights, and the more money we raise during the campaign the more lights get turned on. Pledges and funds raised by participants will go directly to supporting the YWCA Westman Women’s Shelter and the programming it offers to women, children, and families within our community.
